What does Windows 10 ESU include?
The Windows 10 It is designed to help organisations with Windows 10 devices, that don’t meet update requirements, to maintain protection while completing a longer, phased transition to Windows 11 devices.
What’s Included:
- Monthly security updates for vulnerabilities rated “critical” or “important”
- Support for ESU activation and installation
What isn’t included:
- No technical support
- No new features
- No design changes
Windows 10 ESU: Pricing and Longevity
Windows 10 ESU will be available for a maximum of three years, ending in October 2028. Each year of coverage must be purchased separately, and the cost increases annually — doubling each year.
UK pricing (per device):
- Year 1: £66 ex VAT
- Year 2: £132 ex VAT
- Year 3: £264 ex VAT
This pricing model is intended to encourage organisations to complete their migration plans rather than rely on ESU as a long-term solution.
Please note that Windows 10 ESU is only offered as an annual subscription. Even if you wait until 2026 to purchase it, you’ll still be required to pay for the full first year — regardless of when you start.
Renewals and price increases will apply uniformly to all users, regardless of when their subscription began.
How to get Windows 10 ESU
Before you order Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU), there are a few key requirements and timelines to be aware of:
- Minimum Purchase: A minimum of five (5) ESU licenses must be ordered.
- Volume Licensing Agreement: You must have a Volume Licensing Agreement (VLA) in place to purchase ESU. If you do not currently hold a VLA, a one-time administrative fee of £75 will be applied to establish one.
